Blog Tour: Plan Overboard by Heather Wardell

9add

The much-anticipated sequel to ALL AT SEA brings back Melissa and the trio of brothers that vied for her heart, and a brand new heroine to root for in Corinne Kostopoulos.
All Corinne has ever wanted was the role of clarinetist for the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra. The clarinet, and working to master it, is all she has left of her father, who abandoned the family when she was a little girl. But after failing to clinch an open spot in a heated audition, her life-plan soon goes overboard. Not only does she break up with her longtime boyfriend, Clay, she also makes a decision that will alter her destiny in ways she never imagined...

After a medical procedure and a couple of months of changing everything in her life, a pregnant Corinne meets Melissa and her gorgeous flirt of a brother-in-law, Austin, on a cruise. The heat of the Caribbean sun soon combines with a mutual attraction to create a sizzling connection neither Corinne nor Austin can deny. But when the truth comes out about Corinne's condition, will lifelong playboy Austin man up? Or will Corinne's hope for a future beyond a shipboard romance prove yet another PLAN OVERBOARD?

~~I received this in exchange for an honest review~~

This is kind of a continuation of All at Sea (or at least you meet the characters in that book). This is the second book that I have read by Heather, and this one didn't disappoint at all.

This is about a woman who plans everything out. She plans months in advance. She know how much, when, where, and how she is going to accomplish this goal. This woman also just found out that she didn't make it into the Toronto Philharmonic Orchestra. Corrine has spent the last 20 years planning on making it into the Philharmonic. When that doesn't pan out, she makes a new plan including becoming a single mom, and forgets her old plans. What she doesn't plan on is Austin. Austin, is a playboy, everybody who knows Austin, knows that he doesn't do relationships. And Corrine on the same cruise as Austin, is just wonderful for him. He'll spend the entire cruise with her, and when it is over, he will say goodbye and never see her again. Or so he thinks. What he doesn't plan on, is the feelings that he has for her. But, can those feelings hold true when Corrine tells Austin the secret that she has been carrying with her?

I love books like this. They make you laugh and they make you cry. This book did both. I was skeptical about this book. Knowing what Austin is like and how fragile Corrine is. But Heather balances the story well. There is enough give and take with the story, that it doesn't feel overpowered by one story or the other. She wraps it up with a nice ribbon and delivers a fantastic story!! You will love this book!!

~ Sometimes you have to go through hell to find your heaven ~

Most women have a wish list when it comes to what kind of man they want to date. JC Mathews used a strict set of guidelines as a safety net to keep herself out of trouble and out of love.

On hiatus from the bright lights and speculative gazes of her career in the fashion industry, JC lets her guard down...only to the wrong man. After escaping Italy and the hands of her abuser, she returns to Malibu to recover. The last thing she expects to find is a large, gorgeous intruder swimming naked in her pool.

Reed Rider left Texas and his broken heart behind in order to settle his aunt’s affairs after her death. Seeking refuge from the California heat for a midnight swim in his neighbor’s backyard, he never expects to find the nude silhouette of a long-haired beauty standing at the water’s edge.

As their passion ignites and the pages of JC's rulebook fade to grey, she unlocks her guarded heart to begin a new chapter in her life. When hidden truths are exposed and secrets unravel, will they survive the threats from their broken pasts?

Reed slouched against the hood of a fully restored 1969 black Camaro. His comfortable confident composure hung on him like a favorite pair of jeans, perfect in all the right places. Standing in the sunlight, his wavy hair took on a golden hue against his black t-shirt. His lips pulled into a timid grin, accentuating the fine laugh lines surrounding his eyes.
The man looked absolutely virile, renewing her confidence to an all-time high. She’d been so flustered and nervous previously around Reed she couldn’t completely act like herself. “That’s it,” she mumbled to herself, marching toward his car. “He has the nerve to come over here looking that damn good. Patience is a virtue my ass.”
Unable to contain the huge smile plastered to her face, JC sauntered right up to him and kissed him on the cheek. Their legs brushed as she stood between his thighs and the rasp of his trimmed beard sent a rush of exhilaration straight to her core. “Reed Rider, I’ve got three things to say to you.”
His jaw turned rigid under the heat of her kiss. “I’m listening, JC Mathews.”
“First, if my mom were here, she’d push me out of the way to get into the front seat of your car. Second, you’d better be prepared. And third,”—she held out her hand and wiggled her fingers—“I wanna drive.”
There was no need to go into detail of what she meant by prepared. Judging by the dazzling white smile broadening across his face, he knew exactly what she meant.
He dangled the keys in front of her. “You can’t, it’s a stick.”
Snatching the keys from his fingers, she whispered in his ear, “I’m very good with sticks.” She sashayed to the driver’s side of the car. “Oh, one more thing, Reed Rider. You look fucking amazing.”
He stood frozen, peering at her from over the roof of the car with his mouth hung open.
She climbed into the driver’s seat. “Are you coming?”
A deep chuckle escaped his throat. “Yes, ma’am.”
The car started with a low rumble and deep thunderous vibration when she turned the key. Pulling out of the driveway, she reached over Reed and tugged on his seatbelt. “You might want to buckle up. Darlin’.”
Reed’s Camaro flew from 0mph to 60mph in a matter of seconds, leaving him hanging on for dear life. “Don’t wrap my car around a pole,” he warned fretfully. “How the hell did you learn how to drive like this in that sardine can of yours?”
“I dated a race car driver.” She shot him a sideways timorous grin.
“What happened?” he asked in a condescending tone.
JC tossed her hair to the side and flashed Reed a sexy smile. “He wasn’t near as much fun as his cars.”
This provoked a laugh from him.
“Something else you should know about me, Reed, if you don’t already. I’ve dated…a lot.” Her voice cracked exposing a hint of insecurity. “It’s not something I’m proud of nor am I embarrassed of, but seeing how you’re such a gentleman, I think you should know what you’re getting yourself into.”
Resting his hand on her headrest, he twirled a lock of her hair between his fingers. “Let me get this straight. From what I can see, you can shoot whiskey, you like to swear a bit, you know how to drive, and you can be very feisty. Am I right so far?”
Her heart thundered right along with the motor. “Yep.” She nodded.
He tucked her wind-whipped hair behind her ear, tenderly tracing her lobe. “JC darlin’, if you tell me you like to chase women, I might just cry.”
JC gasped, her nose curled into a snarl. She slammed on the brakes, sending his Camaro into a controlled fishtail slide, ending with an abrupt stop and Reed’s fingers clinging to the dashboard.
“Reed Rider!” she growled. “I was not kissing that woman. She totally tricked me right in front of the paparazzi. If you want to know something about me, then ask! And if you’re going to Google me, do it sitting next to me so I can at least explain the photos. Most of them are complete bullshit!”
The car sat sideways in the middle of the empty street. Reed blinked repeatedly, opening his mouth to say something then closing it. JC clenched the steering wheel forcefully to keep her hands steady.
He cleared his throat. “I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about. I didn’t Google you. I was only making a joke. You know the old saying, drink, drive, chase women.” A long pause filled the space between them followed by a devilish chuckle, “But I will now. Let’s turn around. That sounds much better than shopping.”
“Oh…my…God.” She buried her face in her hands, mumbling, “Never so embarrassed…I am not turning around. We’re going shopping.” She put the car in gear and headed down the street.
“I’m waiting. This I gotta hear!” he probed sardonically. “What were you on? Inquiring Minds Want To Know?”
“And a few others,” she admitted hesitantly.

Blog Tour: Healing my Heart by Aleya Michelle

SYNOPSIS:

Roxy is in a bind...

Should she stay true to herself or should she follow her wounded heart back to her first love?
Back to the one who left her heartbroken and alone.
Who will be the one to help heal her heart?
Will it be Dylan, who started as her re-bound, but has become her strength and her life line over the past few months.

Or will it be Kade, the one who stole her heart and showed her the true meaning of love. Then showed her all the despair, vulnerability and pain a broken heart can cause.
Which path will bring her to her happily ever after?

~~I received this in exchange for an honest review~~

This is the second book in the series. It picks up where it left off. Roxy is now with Dylan. He has healed her heart from the heartbreak from Kade. However, Roxy starts to notice things about Dylan that she has never noticed before. Just little thing, but soon they start to become huge problems.

Kade can't get Roxy off of his mind. But he needs to concentrate because of the pro surf contest in Hawaii that is coming up. He doesn't like the way he left Roxy, broken and sad. But he was trying to protect her from his family problems. He never expects to see her at a dance club one night. But, can he stay away from her? Or can he be her saving grace?

This was a roller coaster of emotions. I was happy, pissed off, sad, upset, scared etc... There were times that I wanted to scream at the book "run away", and other times I was smiling because it was a happy moment. I love this book! I can't wait to read more from Aleya!!

EXCERPT:

As I rub my hands along her body I tell her. “This tanned skin of yours is so clear and smooth; I love the softness, your untouched beauty, no Photoshop of Botox or plastic surgery. Roxy I love you and just you my all-natural Aussie beauty. You are my very cheeky, stubborn, way too independent, hotter than hell Aussie beauty” I state to her as I thrust deep inside her wet core. I glide in with ease; she is so aroused and dripping.

Excerpt:

I checked my phone once more and saw that there was a text that had come in while I was lost in my thoughts.
MysteryGirl: Almost there.
I have never been nervous for a date before, but this one was important. It was the first time I had been completely honest with a woman about my past and the first time the woman knew that this wasn't just about getting into bed together.
She may not know specific details, but she knew enough about me. She knew details about my past that no one else did and it had taken a huge weight off of my shoulders. She liked me for me, no matter what - or who - I had done before her. It was refreshing and very necessary for me now that I had watched Ash and Con's lives change so much because they had found the one. I wanted that for me and I was going to get it no matter the cost.
I waited for another few minutes when I saw a flash of red outside the window next to me.
Aiden was scurrying down the sidewalk in the dark green dress I saw her carrying the day before. And just like I had thought it would the day before, it looked really good on her. It stopped just above her knees, showing off the creamy skin of her toned legs, and the shoes she was wearing… those heels made her legs look miles long. Her curled hair draped down her back, the perfect shade of red to go with the dress. I still hadn't seen her face, but there was no mistaking that hair.
I was right. She didn't need much time to look good.
My perusal of her was cut off when she turned into the door to the restaurant and strode up to the hostess.
"Lucky day," I said to myself, curious to see who her date was and if he was the smart sophisticated doctor-like gentleman I could picture her with.
The hostess started to lead her through the same maze of tables I had walked through and as they got closer, I wondered at the coincidence that her date was in the same restaurant and, from the looks of it, possibly at the table next to mine. I tore my eyes away from Aiden who was concentrating on not running into anything and my heart stuttered to a halt, my hands starting to sweat when the hostess met my gaze then smiled as she came to a stop next to me.
At my table.
"Here we are, Miss."
The look on Aiden's face when she finally saw me had to be the exact visual replica of the way I was feeling sitting there like an idiot, staring at what I had come to realize was my MysteryGirl.
"What the fuck?" The hostess flinched at my outburst, but I didn't give a shit. This had to be some kind of joke.
"You're Dreamy?" Aiden gasped.
"You're MysteryGirl?"
The now frowning hostess hurried away as Aiden's face began to turn bright red, almost as red as her hair and I felt like a complete dick. I should have seen the signs. Artist, hot date, funny as hell. Of course Mystery Girl is Aiden.
She's fucking perfect for me. In. Every. Way.
Realizing that made me wish I would have seen it sooner before I was a complete asshole to her all those times. Whatever she was about to do, I deserved one hundred and fifty percent.
Before I could say anything, even process anything beyond the fact that she was the woman I had been communicating with this whole time, she turned on her sexy as hell heels and took off through the obstacle course of linen covered tables, knocking over a centerpiece or two, and all but running out the front door.
My jaw was still flat on the table, but now I was drooling. Curves I had never noticed before were moving quickly away from me.
Yes, I deserved it.
No, I wasn't going to accept it.
It only took me another two seconds to make my decision.
I had waited too long for her. Too long trying to convince her to meet me in person. Too long lying awake at night wondering what she looked like. Too long imagining her body wrapped around mine while we talked for hours on end.
MysteryGirl was mine. MysteryGirl was Aiden. Therefore, Aiden… yeah, she was going to be mine, too.
I was watching her hurry down the sidewalk while I attempted to scoot out of the booth without taking my eyes off of her.
"Excuse me, sir. Will your date be returning?"
I quickly glanced at the now more hopeful hostess and grinned, "No. We are both leaving. Thank you for the table and I apologize that we won't be using it."
I didn't wait another second. I flew by her and my eyes found Aiden once more as I reached the glass front door. She was folding that body into a cab and my heart thumped wildly against my chest.
"You can run, Red. But you can't hide."

About The Author:

Jessica Wilde
I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dog, Kolo. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidently kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet. I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn't stop thinking of ideas. I loved every minute, every hour of sleep lost, and every character that came to life in my mind. It's strange, but my favorite moments are when I have writer's block because I can turn to my husband and find inspiration through him by just doing what we do best together. Talking, laughing, and just being in love. He doesn't like to read, but he never stops encouraging me to keep going. Writing has become an important part of my life and every book has a special place in my heart.
